Kenya helicopter crash kills six, including MP

NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Six people were killed Saturday when a helicopter crashed in western Kenya, authorities said, including a sitting member of parliament.

The aircraft went down in Nandi County in the North Rift region. Officials said the cause of the crash had not yet been determined.

Nandi County police commander Samuel Mukusi told Kenyan broadcaster Citizen TV that those killed were the legislator, the pilot and four other passengers.

President William Ruto issued a statement mourning the victims.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends, the people of Emurua Dikirr, and all the victims and families affected by the helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County,” Ruto wrote.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of the other passengers. Investigations into the cause of the crash were ongoing.
