AFRICOM says turns down more air strike requests from Somalia to avoid civilian casualties

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – US military has said it turns down air support requests from Somalia’s government during military operations against the Al-Qaeda-aligned militants.

Speaking on condition of anonymity to NBC News, a senior AFRICOM official said that turns down more requests for air strikes than he approves to avoid civilian casualties.

“One strike won win the losers of war, but one bad strike will take that authority and capability away from us and have ramifications impacting not only us but also the international community here supporting Somalia,” he added.
