Puntland intelligence denies involvement in killing of former SNM officer in Somaliland

GAROWE (Somaliguardian) – The Puntland Intelligence and Security Agency (PISA) has denied any involvement in the killing of former Somali National Movement (SNM) officer Ahmed Addib, whose body was recently found in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, Caasimada Online news website reported on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the agency rejected reports linking it to the incident, describing the claims as unfounded. PISA stated that it does not engage in assassinations or operations that violate the sovereignty or security of other regions or countries.

The agency also highlighted its ongoing security cooperation with Somaliland and other regional intelligence bodies, focusing on shared security priorities and counterterrorism efforts.

The death of Ahmed Addib remains under investigation by Somaliland security forces. No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the killing, and authorities have yet to release official findings.

His death is the latest in a series of targeted killings reported in Hargeisa in recent weeks, which have included both security personnel and civilians. The spike in violence has raised public concern in a region that has long been regarded as one of the most stable in Somalia.

The recent incidents have led to growing speculation about the motives and potential perpetrators behind the killings. Local authorities have vowed to investigate thoroughly, amid mounting calls for improved security and transparency.
