DOHA (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has warned that regional tensions and foreign interventions, including actions by Israel, threaten stability across the Horn of Africa.
Speaking at the Al Jazeera Forum 17 in Doha on Saturday, Mohamud emphasised that his government opposes any attempt to alter the current international order, asserting that the world must not revert to a logic of power.
The comments come amid growing friction between the Somali federal government and Israel, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recognition of Somaliland, a breakaway region in northern Somalia. The Somali government has condemned the move, describing it as an attempt to annex part of Somalia’s territory and further destabilise the region.
President Mohamud’s remarks reflect Somalia’s broader concerns over external interference in its internal affairs, highlighting the potential consequences of unilateral actions that could undermine regional security and diplomatic norms.
