MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – US-trained Danab Somali special forces launched an operation supported by airstrikes against an Al-Shabaab-held area near Bulo Haji town, outside the coastal city of Kismayo, on Saturday.
The attack took place in the Maqoqaha area, approximately 13 km from Bulo Haji, where militants and Somali forces engaged in heavy clashes.
Somali state media reported that 37 militants were killed in the raid, while Al-Shabaab-affiliated outlets claimed their fighters repelled the attack, killing six US-trained troops and wounding 13 others.
Claims from both sides could not be independently verified immediately due to the remote location of the clashes.
