MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The Danish Ambassador to Somalia Steen Sonne Anderson on Wednesday clarified his recent comments regarding the Somaliland elections, in which he appeared to suggest the region’s sovereignty and independence from Somalia, after being formally summoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an official explanation.
“Yesterday, I had a fruitful exchange with Somalia’s Foreign Minister Amb. Fiqi, clarifying comments made around the Somaliland election and concerns arising from any unintentional comments,” Anderson said in a statement on X.
“Denmark continues to respect Somalia’s territorial integrity and unity, including Somaliland as an integral part.”
